Dental Problems
The number of patients seeking dental advice from GP’s in increasing. However, the treatment of dental problems is not within the expertise of GP’s and the British Medical Association guidance to Doctors is that they should not attempt to manage a condition requiring dental skills.
As Doctors are not able to manage the pain or any problem relating to dental issues, the advice to patients is to contact their own Dental practice or, if not registered with an NHS dentist, contact any local NHS Dental practice for information on how to get the most appropriate treatment. Or, in severe circumstances, they should attend the nearest accident and emergency department.
