Doctor Tim Fooks' first (and possibly
most important) job in the NHS was as a domestic auxilliary
in Tonbridge Kent when hewas 18. His medical training
was at the Royal Free School of Medicine and he qualified
in 1986 having obtained a BSc (Hons) in Infection and
Immunity in 1984 from St Mary's Hospital Medical School.
Doctor Fooks worked in paediatrics in East London and
then moved to Cambridge to train as a GP.
Doctor Fooks started as a doctor in Pulborough in 1992,
the same year that he achieved the MRCGP qualification,
and has retained his interest in Paediatrics. Recently
Doctor Fooks has organised conferences in general practice
and community paediatrics with Imperial College Medical
School in London.
However, he remains interested in all aspects of medicine
especially chronic disease and mental health problems.
Between 1999 and 2002 Doctor Fooks was chairman of
the local NHS Primary Care Group in Chichester and since
this time has been involved in developing new services
for patients (eg 24hr Intensive Care at Home service)
both in the practice and the wider community.
In the practice, Dr Fooks is responsible for general
management and finance.
Outside of the practice, Doctor Fooks has a very lovely
family who let him go sailing from time to time! He
particularly enjoys sailing long distances and in 2000
he crossed the Atlantic (west to east) in a 39ft ketch.
Other things Doctor Fooks enjoys include tennis, golf,
walking in Scotland and music (especially when his children
are playing).
