Important information about Data Extraction
NHS England is commissioning a modern data service from the HSCIC on behalf
of the entire health and social care system.
Under the Health and Social Care Act 2012, NHS England has the power to
direct the HSCIC to collect information from all providers of NHS care
including general practices. The data to be extracted by GP practices were
considered by the Joint GP IT Committee of the British Medical Association and
the Royal College of General Practitioners, as well as an independent advisory
The General Practice Extraction Service (GPES) will be used to extract GP
data each month. Initially the data will cover the period from April 2013
onwards. The identifiers to be extracted are: NHS number, date of birth,
postcode, and gender which will allow patients’ GP data to be linked to their
hospital data. No free text will be extracted, only coded information about
referrals, NHS prescriptions and other clinical data. To access posters,
checklists and factsheets.

Important Information about Travel Clinics
Due to the unprecedented demand on our Practice Nursing Team for core
Primary Care Services, we are not able to offer travel advice until the New
Year. During the next few months we will also be starting our annual flu
clinics, vaccinating over 4,000 eligible patients for season flu and shingles,
as well as arranging vaccination for patients in our local nursing homes, and
those who are housebound. We will continue to offer vaccination for those
vaccines which are free under the NHS i.e. Cholera, Hep A, Polio and
Typhoid. Patients will however have to obtain travel assessments
elsewhere and this service is available at Goring Hall, Worthing or Sussex
Travel Clinic (details of all their services can be found on their
websites). If patients have received a travel assessment and require any
of the 4 free NHS vaccines, we will offer a 10 minute appointment for these
vaccines only. We are also suspending our Yellow Fever Clinic for the

Ghazanfar; many patients will already have met Dr Ghazanfar who has been
working at Pulborough over the last year as a GP Registrar.
Dr Serjeant will be moving on to take a more extensive role at Brighton
